What is the Vietnam eVisa Validity Period?

The Vietnam eVisa lasts between 1-90 days, and this is contingent on the visa type granted and the choice of travel dates made in the application. Vietnam eVisa is applicable as a single-entry visa or multiple-entry visa to the country as a tourist visa or a business visa.

Maximum Validity: Up to 90 Days

The Vietnam eVisa is valid for up to 90 days from the entry date shown on your visa. During this period, the travelers can visit Vietnam and spend their time in the country within the stipulated time frame.

How Validity is Calculated

The validity period is fixed based on the dates you provide in your application:

Start Date: Your visa is valid since the actual date on the application form that you specify is the Proposed Date of Entry. You cannot enter Vietnam before this date.

End Date: The visa expires on the exact day 90 days after beginning (or on that particular end date, written on your PDF).

Late Entry: If you enter Vietnam after your start date, your visa will still expire on the original end date. You do not have any additional days to compensate for a late arrival.

Single or Multiple Entry Alternatives

Nowadays, there are two types of Vietnam eVisas:

Single-entry eVisa: This allows a single entry into Vietnam within the validity period.

Multiple-entry eVisa: This is given to travelers who wish to visit and travel in and out of Vietnam several times within the 90 days of validity.

This option is ideal for travelers who plan to visit neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia, or Thailand and return to Vietnam.

Validity Period vs. Length of Stay

There should be a distinction between:

Visa validity period: The duration of the visa within which it is utilized (maximum 90 days).

Authorized stay: The number of days you are allowed to stay in Vietnam, usually matching the validity period shown on your eVisa.

You must enter Vietnam on or after the start date and leave before the expiry date printed on your eVisa.

Important notes:

According to the Vietnamese law, the eVisa should not be longer than 90 days.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your planned date of entry into Vietnam.

Most of the time, eVisas are not extendable inside Vietnam, so if you need to stay longer, you must apply for a new visa or a different visa type.
