What If My Country Is Not Eligible for the Vietnam eVisa?

The Vietnam eVisa is currently available to citizens of all countries and territories. However, some travelers may choose or need to use alternative visa options depending on their travel purpose, length of stay, or entry plans.

Can I still visit Vietnam if I choose not to use the Vietnam eVisa?

Yes. Even if your country is not eligible for the Vietnam eVisa, you can still travel to Vietnam by applying for the appropriate visa type. Alternative options if you are not eligible for a Vietnam eVisa

1. Apply for a Vietnam visa at an embassy or consulate
You can apply for a traditional Vietnamese visa at the nearest Vietnamese embassy or consulate in your country or region. This option is suitable for travelers who require longer stays, multiple entries, or special visa types.

2. Apply for a Vietnam visa approval letter (Visa on Arrival)
If you are flying into Vietnam and cannot use an eVisa, you may apply for a visa approval letter through a licensed visa service. Once approved, you will receive a letter by email and obtain your visa stamp upon arrival at a Vietnamese international airport.

Note: Visa on Arrival is available only for air travel and is not valid for land or sea entry points.

3. Check for Visa Exemptions
Depending on your nationality, you might not need a visa at all for short stays. Vietnam offers visa exemptions to several groups:

ASEAN Countries: Citizens of most Southeast Asian countries (like Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia) can enter for 14 to 30 days without a visa.

Western & European Nations: Citizens of several countries (including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, South Korea, and Japan) currently enjoy a 45-day visa exemption.

Phu Quoc Island Special Rule: All foreign nationals may visit Phu Quoc Island without a visa for up to 30 days, provided Phu Quoc is their final destination in Vietnam and they do not travel to the mainland without a valid visa.
