What countries are visa-free for Vietnam?
Vietnam visa exemption (also known as Vietnam visa waiver or Vietnam visa-free) refers to the situation in which a foreign national is permitted to enter Vietnam and stay for a specified period of time without having to follow any Vietnam visa procedure because the Vietnam government has signed a bilateral/unilateral visa exemption agreement for his/her country.
As of January 2022, there are 25 countries that are visa-free for Vietnam. The length of stay is determined by citizenship and ranges from 90 to 15 days.
Other countries that are not Vietnam visa-free countries must obtain a visa in order to enter Vietnam legally. South Korea is a visa-free country for 15 days, so South Korean passport holders DO NOT require a visa to enter Vietnam for staying up to 15 days. However, if they would like to stay longer than 15 days, the visa is compulsory. There are two ways to apply for a visa to Vietnam:
- Directly apply to the Vietnam Embassy in Korea. You will obtain a traditional visa.
- Apply for a Vietnam e-Visa on Vietnam Immigration Services website. (recommended)
The Vietnam e-Visa has requirements and the applicant needs to meet all the requirements. Remember that Vietnam e-Visa is valid as a single entry visa for 30 days.
