Can I extend my Vietnam eVisa?

Yes, you can extend a Vietnam eVisa, but the process must be done within Vietnam. You need to contact either a local visa agent or the Vietnam Immigration Office before your visa expires. The extension process allows you to stay longer in the country without leaving, though it can take several days and may require submitting your passport for processing.

Extensions are generally available for both single and multiple-entry visas. The fee and processing time depend on the type of visa you hold and the duration of the extension requested. It is recommended to apply at least a week in advance to avoid any overstaying penalties.

To extend a tourist visa, foreigners must meet the following conditions:

  • A copy of the travel agency's official travel license
  • Verification of the temporary presence of foreign visitors at tourist lodging facilities
  • A current passport with two stamp-free pages
  • A visa application (Form NA5) to issue a visa and extend a stay
  • A police-certified temporary resident registration, an online temporary residence registration, or a temporary residency card, if any.
